“When I was pregnant I read about the golden month, where lots of cultures prioritise rest, nourishment, touch and care for the parents and birthing person especially. In a culture where this is not the norm it was really hard for me to find someone here, who would visit me at home to massage a few days after birth but I found Tui.

I first saw Tūī when I was very pregnant. After I gave birth I didn’t have any visitors (not even my family), for close to a month, but I had Tūī. I stayed in bed with Ida and we’ve slept that way ever since. It was such a privilege and only possible through our friends and families generosity - if only every birthing person could be so lucky.”

"The womb healing I received from Tūī had an extraordinary effect… I felt so nourished, relaxed and held throughout.

The periods I have had since have been pain free, given me much clarity on my emotions and releasing ancestral struggles, while also having my cycle shorten to the “normal” length of 28-30 days, which I have never experienced before. I am so grateful to have reached out to Tūī when I did.”

My pregnancy massage with Tūī was a deeply spiritual, relaxing experience. Tūī is intuitive, strong yet gentle and truly holds space for you, however you show up that day. I left feeling physically and emotionally nourished. They create such a safe space, you can just let go. I would recommend Tūī to any hapū mama.

I can't not speak of Tūī highly enough. I have been getting massaged by them for over 8yrs now. It is always a multi layered, deeply healing and nourishing experience each time. They have a vast knowledge, gifted, skilled and intuitive hands and a caring energy that I have yet to experience elsewhere. You will not be disappointed.

“I recently had the most wonderful pregnancy massage experience! As an expectant mother, it’s been a game-changer for my physical and mental well-being. Tūī was knowledgeable, gentle and attentive to my specific needs and concerns. The massage was tailored to my stage of pregnancy, and I felt completely safe and supported throughout.

The massage itself was blissful - it eased my aches and pains, improved my circulation, and left me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I especially appreciated the natural oils used and the blend which was individually made according to my personal needs and preferences.

Tūī has a calm demeanour, and created a soothing ambience with relaxing music that helped me unwind and let go of any stress.

I highly recommend this pregnancy massage to any expectant mothers out there - it’s a must-have for self-care and prenatal care! Thank you Tūī!

In one session Tūī's massage and myofascial release work has given me more movement & pain reduction than the years I have worked with a range of other professionals. Would highly recommend Tūī and looking forward further sessions.

Tūī’s hands are gentle, powerful and healing. I definitely felt a shift in myself after the massage, as well as a sense of groundedness that lasted days, not just a couple of hours!

Kauri Bodywork is a healing and wellness space involving therapeutic offerings combining hands-on body therapies including massage therapy, myofascial release and manual lymphatic drainage, integrated with herbal plant extracts from sustainably harvested and prepared organic essential oils and infused oils, native and wild plant tinctures and herbal essences.

Kauri Bodywork began as a space for women and birthing people to come and receive massage during their hapūtanga (pregnancy and post-partum journey) facilitating safe and respectful massage care for LGBTQ+ / queer and gender-diverse people wanting to grow their families, celebrating diversity within Aotearoa.

Recent years have seen this wellness space grow organically, encompassing more aspects of assisting women and gender diverse people in their healing and wellness needs. This includes supporting healthy menstrual cycles, nervous system and emotional support during stress, change and life transitions, and assisting embodiment; living from a deeply embodied space.

“I have massaged people from many walks of life, including palliative care, pregnancy, athletes - marathon runners, rock climbers, hikers, to those who struggle with long-term conditions or who are moving through big life transitions. I enjoy working holistically, by using therapeutic techniques with healing and plant remedies, to release tension in the body as well as the mind, soothing the nervous system from states of stress, helping you to return to a state of equilibrium.

I approach bodywork with deep reverence, tending to each person holistically. These bodywork rituals flow as dual rivers, connecting embodiment-arts with plant-arts, intertwining the unlearning of stress and pain within the body, supported by the natural world from Rongoā Māori healing and native plant remedies, essential oil therapies and holistic herbalism.”
